I've never stayed in a guest house before. How is it different from a regular hotel?

There are five differences from ordinary hotels.

①Stay without meals is basic. 
②There is a space where you can interact with other guests and with the locals. 
③In the case of a dormitory (shared room), the toilet and shower room will be shared with other people. 
④Pajamas are not provided. (For details, please refer to "What are the amenities?")
⑤Depending on the room, please set and return the sheets by yourself.

RICO offers various types of rooms, from dormitories to complete private rooms, so please try to find the type that suits you!

Can I interact with other guests and locals?

There are various guests every day, and it depends on the season and timing,
If you come for a drink at the bar on the 1st floor at night, the locals and 
There is a high possibility that you will be able to interact with the guests.

There is also a shared kitchen available 24 hours a day. 
The shared kitchen is not only used by guests, but also for work such as coworking
It is used by locals, and is also used by residents. 
Even in a shared kitchen, chances are you can have a lively conversation.

Do you have a curfew?

RICO has no curfew. 
There is an entrance that can be entered and exited 24 hours a day, so please use that. 
For guests staying in a room with a shared shower, showers and hair dryers are available from 24:00 to 6:00
Please note that you cannot use it.

Do you have a morning?

Accepted Answer

Starting in October 2025, we will be offering a homemade croissant breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays only from 7:30am to 10am.

In fact, Wakayama is an area with many coffee shops, and there are coffee shops nearby that open from 7am.
Please ask our staff and experience everyday life in Wakayama.

What kind of menu does the café bar on the first floor have? What do you recommend?

Accepted Answer

The most popular is "RICO's Basque Cheesecake". 
The type that you eat with rock salt,
You can also enjoy it as an accompaniment to sake. 
French fries are also popular. 
I do everything myself, from peeling the skin on the potatoes,
It is very delicious and popular.

We have a wide variety of local sake and soft drinks. 
Some drinks, such as draft beer and highballs, are discounted to half the regular price for hotel guests.

The appeal of RICO's cafe bar is that there are many locals who use the cafe at night. 
Especially on weekends. 
It is very interesting to observe the locals while traveling and chat with them if you have the chance. 
Please use it.

Do you have a kitchen?

There is a shared kitchen available 24 hours a day. 
Some rooms have kitchens. 
We rent a kitchen set for those who cook in the room.

Do you have a refrigerator, rice cooker, etc.?

Everyone's refrigerator and 3-cup rice cooker in the shared kitchen
Toaster, microwave oven, coffee maker,

Do you have a washing machine?

Please note that there is no washing machine available in most rooms.
However, there is a coin laundry within a 3-minute walk from the property. Our staff will be happy to guide you there at check-in — feel free to ask!
Some rooms with kitchen appliances are equipped with a washing machine.If you need detergent, we sell single-use pods for 50 yen each.
There is no dryer available, but on sunny days, you are welcome to use the rooftop for air-drying your clothes.

Rental bicycles are available for 500 yen for 24 hours. 
If you would like to use it, please ask at the reception.

There is a shared kitchen available 24 hours a day and a rooftop. 
Some people meditate and do yoga on the rooftop.

There are regular events and one-off events.

Regular events include:

① Mochiyori breakfast party

Date and time: 9:00-10:00 on the first Sunday of every month
Contents: Shared breakfast party with neighbors
Cost: 1 item or tipping

②Friday "Salameshi"

Date and time: Every Friday from 12:00 to 13:00
Contents: Local co-working & share office users gather to eat
Cost: None
*Please prepare your own rice

③RICO Acoustic Guitar Club

Date and time: 14:00-16:00 on any Sunday of even-numbered months
Contents: From beginners to veterans, teach each other while presenting the songs you are practicing
Cost: Place fee 500 yen

④ Cine Talk Wakayama
Date and time: 14:00 to 15:30 on any Sunday in odd-numbered months
Details: Watch the theme movie that is currently showing in the theater in advance and share your impressions
Cost: One drink system

Guests staying at the hotel are also welcome to participate in any event!
